In this Fierce Love edition of Harder to Kill Radio, I’m sharing my own personal story of breaking up with sugar, including tips you can implement today.
On Breaking Up with Sugar
Full disclosure: this is my personal story and this may or may not work for you, but I wanted to share in hopes that my experiences might help someone.
Growing up I was a full-on sugar fiend. Suffice to say, anything sweet had my name on it.
Looking back, I realize I was dealing with hypoglycemia. My blood sugar would crash super hard, and I’d seek out something sugary in between meals. I was shaky, hangry, lightheaded, and foggy between meals. If you’re experiencing any of those symptoms, please talk to your doctor.
Fast-forward to 2010 when I went paleo, the first step in my sugar breakup. So I took a “rip the band-aid off” approach. Which MAY OR MAY NOT work for you. For my personality, it did.
But hear this: honoring yourself and how you make changes is one of THE MOST important factors in you sticking to something long-term. I don’t eat zero sugar, but it doesn’t hold a grip on me anymore.
If you’re dealing with a cycle of sugar cravings, consider how you best make change. Your path won’t be linear, you’ll probably have setbacks. It’s all part of the process.
But whether your approach is one of “ripping the band-aid off” or a slow progression of making better choices, change is possible when you buy into the process.
